Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center’s Monthly Giving Community
When you become a recurring donor to the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center (WDRC), you become a Partner for Peace and join a community of supporters who believe in building a more peaceful, connected Whatcom County.
A monthly donation of any amount makes a powerful impact. Whether you choose to give $10, $25, $50, or $100, your gift helps us provide life-changing services, education, and support to neighbors in need. Every dollar goes directly toward fulfilling our mission and strengthening our community.
A Safe Place to Stay Connected
"Without supervised visitation, I don't know what I would have done. I was flat on my back," one Supervised Visitation participant shared after graduating from our program following four years of weekly visits. When this visiting parent first came to us, he didn’t know where to turn or how he would continue seeing his child.
For families navigating separation and conflict, maintaining the bond between a parent and child can feel impossible. As the only provider of free supervised visitation in our community, the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center offers families a safe, supportive place to preserve those relationships when they have nowhere else to turn.
For this visiting parent, the program’s rules initially felt restrictive and he was hesitant to participate. Our team met his concerns with empathy, consistency, and clear boundaries. Over time, his skepticism gave way to trust as we built a relationship grounded in safety, respect and a shared commitment to supporting the child’s well-being.
One of the most meaningful parts of their journey was the bond they formed with volunteer visit supervisor Kyle. Week after week, Kyle showed up with compassion and reliability, becoming a trusted presence in the family's life.
"He was always there," the parent said.
Just a few weeks ago, the family shared the news everyone had been hoping for: after years of patience and perseverance, the parents reached an agreement that allowed the visiting parent to continue seeing his child without supervised visitation.
Reflecting on his journey, he told us, "You guys have been everything for me." He went on to describe the program as "extremely important, especially for a parent who doesn't have a lot of money and is disabled. It's as important as medical insurance." Their story reminds us that when families are met with compassion, consistency, and hope, healing becomes possible.
Today, we invite you to become a Partner for Peace by making a monthly gift of any amount. Your ongoing support ensures families facing conflict can access supervised visitation, mediation, conflict resolution services, and education when they need it most.
Monthly giving provides the steady foundation that allows us to respond as the need for our services continues to grow across Whatcom County. Our SV program alone saw a 33% increase in visits this year over last, with 70% of families reporting as low-income. Your recurring gift helps families build trust, strengthen relationships, and move toward a more peaceful future. As a special thank you, new Partners for Peace donors will receive a beautiful bouquet of freshly cut flowers, generously donated by Kale Lane Dahlias.
Thank you for believing in the power of connection, healing, and community. Together, we can continue building stories of hope for families throughout Whatcom County.
With deep gratitude,
Moonwater, Executive Director
