Youth Getting Creative About Peace
2026 Youth Peace Poetry Contest
We are overjoyed to announce that our annual Youth Peace Poetry Contest is officially open!
This is truly one of our favorite times of the year, when, in partnership with Village Books, we invite Whatcom County youth ages 4–18 to reflect on and explore ideas of peace through creative expression.
Participants can submit their work in the form of poetry, song lyrics, personal reflections, or any form of writing that sparks their imagination. We encourage youth to share what peace means to them in ways that are authentic and inspiring to them.
Over the years, we have seen peace represented in a wide variety of ways, such as respect, listening, friendship, conflict resolution, hopes and dreams for the future, celebrating peaceful moments, and so much more. We look forward to what this year’s participants come up with!
2025 Contest Winners
Last year’s winners were featured on October 24, 2025 at our Peace Builders Awards event, as well as a Village Books poetry reading event. Congratulations and thank you for spreading the message of peace in our community with your inspiring poems!
